Kaduna South Joins Launch of Operation Tsapta, Backs Governor Uba Sani's Target of 12,000 Sanitation Jobs

The Executive Chairman of Kaduna South Local Government, Hon. Rayyan Hussain MPSCM FICA, attended the official launch of Operation Tsapta at Murtala Muhammed Square, an initiative that is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most impactful youth employment and environmental sustainability programmes in Kaduna State's recent history.
The launch was led by the Commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, and marked a significant moment in the state's ongoing drive to combine environmental cleanliness with meaningful economic opportunity for young people. Operation Tsapta has already created over 5,000 jobs across Kaduna State, with a considerable number of those positions drawn from the metropolis and Kaduna South — young men and women who are now contributing daily to keeping urban areas clean, organised, and welcoming.
The programme's achievements come on the back of Kaduna State's recognition as the cleanest state in Nigeria — a distinction that reflects both the effectiveness of sustained environmental governance and the collective commitment of residents, institutions, and government agencies to maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Building on that milestone, His Excellency Governor Uba Sani CON has set a bold and ambitious target: the addition of 7,000 more jobs to bring the total to 12,000, giving even more young people across the state access to meaningful, dignified work while deepening the culture of environmental responsibility at the community level.
Governor Uba Sani used the occasion to call on all institutions — public and private alike — to sustain their support for environmental cleanliness and long-term sustainability. It is a call that Kaduna South Local Government Council received with full commitment. The council has long complemented state-level initiatives through its monthly sanitation exercises, active community involvement programmes, and strategic partnerships focused on environmental protection. These efforts will be intensified in the period ahead to ensure that every ward within Kaduna South reflects the clean, safe, and livable standard that every family deserves.
Hon. Rayyan Hussain reaffirmed the council's determination to play its full part in realising the Governor's vision — one clean ward, one empowered youth, and one healthier community at a time.
